SchoolStatus Boost announced it has closed a $1.5 million seed funding round led by Cue Ball Capital and with participation from Swift River Investments and the EdTech Fund. The company had previously been bootstrapped, operating solely on revenue.
As the engine behind educators’ professional growth and development, SchoolStatus offers an instructional leadership platform built in partnership with school leaders that makes it easy for schools and districts to meet new and changing evaluation mandates, connect observation data to professional growth targets, provide authentic feedback in real time, and give teachers the agency to become professional development leaders and facilitators.
“Changes in the teacher feedback and development landscape have added a lot of responsibility to administrators’ already full plates,” says TeachBoost Founder and SchoolStatus Chief Product Officer Jason DeRoner. “Priorities are shifting and requirements are increasingly demanding. School leaders need a tool that helps them sail through the compliance aspect of evaluations so they can use the data to improve instructional practice. We often hear that the most relevant and meaningful professional development comes from a teacher or coach down the hall, so we built a collaborative platform for administrators to inform and encourage those interactions. TeachBoost [and SchoolStatus] aspires to meet the professional needs of every teacher and build capacity within a district to do so.”
SchoolStatus will use the seed funding to grow its current team, expand the solution’s capabilities, and ensure best-in-class support for schools as interest increases from districts and organizations across the U.S. and globally.
“[SchoolStatus] has an excellent team and they provide a high-quality product to principals and administrators at a very reasonable price point. Additionally, teacher evaluation is a high-need area within education, as an increasing number of states are expanding or overhauling teacher assessment. We are thrilled to support the [SchoolStatus] team as they continue building their business,” says Cue Ball Principal Ali Rahimtula, who will be joining the Board.
SchoolStatus Boost is a framework agnostic teacher effectiveness platform that helps school and district leaders streamline the observation process, differentiate professional development, and leverage great teaching practices so that every classroom has a great educator.
