FAQ

How do I log in for the first time?
After you have downloaded the app and launched it for the first time, add either your email address or phone number on file with the school, and you will be sent a special login code. Once the code is entered, access to the app is granted. No passwords to remember!
Is a password required?
No. We make it easy to access the portal simply by matching the email address or phone number associated with your student on file at the school. We’ll then send you a 6-digit code (either by email or text, based on how you are authenticating) to be entered tom complete the authentication process.
How does SchoolNow know my information?
Your information is held in your school’s Student Information System (SIS), so the app and portal can reference that information securely.
How do I change communication preferences?
Launch the app, then click the gear icon located at top-left. On this screen, you will see your name along with your student(s), and the contact info we have on file. Next to each phone number or email address, you are able to specify what type of notifications you receive.
How can I update my contact information?
From the mobile app or desktop version, click the settings button to access your preferences. From this screen, you are able to switch on or off your messaging, choose whether you prefer voice or text, and update/change your phone number or email address.
I don’t see my child’s information when I log in. What should I do?
The first time you launch the app, we take your through a data verification process that allows you to review and confirm the data we have on file is accurate. You can tell us if any of your contact information is wrong as well as confirm your students, and even tell us if one of your students is missing. You can also contact the school directly to correct anything. The app will then see the updated information made at the school.
Is my personal information protected?
Absolutely! We take privacy very seriously. SchoolNow and SchoolStatus are Family Educational Rights Privacy Act (FERPA) certified and have passed all requirements related to the access, transfer and storage of data. View our privacy policy here.
Are the app features the same as the web version?
The app consolidates information significantly from the website. This allows the school to push important communications quickly and directs you to frequently-accessed links and other timely information.
Why aren’t messages being delivered to me?
If you are not receiving messages, it is possible that your user preferences are not up to date. Once logged in, navigate to ‘settings’ to double check your contact information. If you cannot login, there may be an issue with the data that was provided to your school. Learn more here.
What is the difference between general and urgent messages?
General messages are used for announcements, reminders, and links to important events and information. Urgent messages are used for critical alerts and updates (including voice calls and push notifications). Overuse of urgent messaging could result in parents overlooking important information. Learn more here.
Do I need to download the SchoolNow app to receive messages?
No, you do not need to download the SchoolNow app to receive email and text notifications from your school. However, to get immediate push notifications and full access to your school’s feed and information, downloading the app is necessary.
How do I opt out of text, email, or phone messages?
In your user preferences, you have the option to opt out of text, email, or phone communication. Please note however, that urgent communications (such as a school emergency) may be sent regardless of your settings.
Can I add a relative or guardian to receive messages and alerts from my children’s school?
Yes. Keep in mind that if an email address or phone number is not already in the schools system, that person won’t be able to access the app or portal. The school either needs to add contact information for the additional people or, a family member who already has access can add the information for a relative or guardian in their own account. Communication preferences for each phone number and email address can be adjusted independently.
SchoolNow and SchoolStatus are Family Educational Rights Privacy Act (FERPA) certified to comply with family privacy laws.
What if I have children in separate schools in the district?
By default, you are only sent or shown the communications and information associated with the districts and schools your students attend. SchoolNow will recognize your children and their appropriate schools based on the contact information provided by each school.
