Additional Notice for Connecticut Residents

This Additional Notice to the Privacy Notice applies to residents of Connecticut only. Connecticut law requires businesses that determine the purpose and means of processing personal data to make certain disclosures and offer data rights. Accordingly, SchoolStatus offers the disclosures below to Visitors to its General Website. (Note that we think capitalized terms not defined here will have the meanings you likely expect, but you can confirm our precise definitions in our SchoolStatus Privacy Notice.) These disclosures and rights may not apply where SchoolStatus is processing data on behalf of its school customers (in particular, for Educators, Parents, and Students) or for individuals who act as an employee of a school (in the case of School Account Managers). Such users should contact their school directly to exercise any rights which they may have.

Disclosure of Personal Information

We may share your personal information by disclosing it to third parties as described in the chart below.

Your Connecticut Rights and Choices

As a Connecticut consumer, you have specific rights regarding your personal information. This section describes those rights and explains how to exercise those rights.

  • Right to Know. You have the right to request that we disclose whether or not we are processing your personal information, unless such disclosure would reveal a trade secret.
  • Right to Access. You have the right to access the personal information we process about you, unless such access would reveal a trade secret. 
  • Right to Portability. You have the right obtain a copy of your personal information that we process in a portable and readily usable format that allows you to transmit the information to another business without hindrance. As permitted by law, we may limit our response where not technically feasible, if the request relates to data not processed by automated means, or where disclosure would reveal a trade secret.
  • Right to Correct. You have the right to correct inaccuracies in the personal information we maintain about you, taking into account the nature of the personal information and the purpose of the processing.
  • Right to Delete. You have the right to request that we delete the personal information provided by or obtained about you. 
  • Right to Opt Out of Processing Personal Information for Targeted Advertising. You have the right to opt out of our processing of your personal information for the purpose of targeting advertisements to you based on personal information obtained from your activity over time and across non-affiliated sites or online applications to predict your preferences or interests. To exercise the right to opt out, you (or your authorized agent) may opt out of certain third party cookies via our cookie manager at https://www.schoolstatus.com/cookie-policy.
  •  Right to Opt Out of Selling. As described above, we may process Personal Information for Targeted Advertising. Otherwise, we do not sell your personal information (and we do not sell personal information we have collected to third parties for use in targeted advertising).

We may limit our response to your requests as permitted by law. With respect to the opt-out rights indicated above, your authorized agent may make a request to exercise these rights. Your agent may act on your behalf through a technology, including an Internet link or a browser setting, browser extension or global device setting. As permitted by law, we may reasonably seek to verify your identity or to confirm your agent’s authorization. We may, as permitted by law, deny your request if we cannot, through reasonable effort, verify your identity and your agent’s authority.
