Additional Notice for Colorado Residents

This Additional Notice to the Privacy Notice applies to residents of Colorado only. Colorado law requires businesses that determine the purpose and means of processing personal data to make certain disclosures and offer data rights. Accordingly, SchoolStatus offers the disclosures below to Visitors to its General Website. (Note that we think capitalized terms not defined here will have the meanings you likely expect, but you can confirm our precise definitions in our SchoolStatus Privacy Notice.) These disclosures and rights may not apply where SchoolStatus is processing data on behalf of its school customers (in particular, for Educators, Parents, and Students) or for individuals who act as an employee of a school (in the case of School Account Managers). Such users should contact their school directly to exercise any rights which they may have.

Information We Collect

We collect or process the following categories of personal information:

  • Contact information
  • Information from cookies
  • Logging, and other automatically collected information
  • Other information relating to an individual, such as communications, support requests, information you choose to share, or requests for product demonstrations. 

We do not knowingly process personal information of children under thirteen years of age. We do not knowingly process sensitive information on our behalf. As used here, sensitive information means personal information revealing racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, a mental or physical health condition or diagnosis, sex life or sexual orientation, or citizenship or citizenship status; genetic or biometric data that may be processed for the purpose of uniquely identifying an individual; or personal information from a known child under thirteen years of age.

Use of Personal Information

For each of the categories of information, we may use or process the personal information we collect as disclosed in our Privacy Notice and for one or more of the following purposes:

  • To fulfill or meet the reason you provided the information. 
  • To deliver targeted advertising, promotional and other communications.
  • To respond to your online inquiries and requests, and to provide you with information and access to resources or services that you have requested from us. 
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory requirements.
Disclosure of Personal Information

We may share or sell your personal information by disclosing it to third parties as described in the chart below.

Sale of Personal Information and Targeted Advertising

We interact with analytics and advertising platforms. As a result, we do share your personal information for targeting advertisements based on activities across non-affiliated sites and services. Such sharing may constitute a ‘sale’ under Colorado law. See Your Rights and Choices section below to understand your rights to opt out of sharing.

We do use and process your personal information for targeted advertising. We use third party analytics and advertising services that operate across non-affiliated websites or applications. Profiling

We do not use or process your personal information for profiling in furtherance of decisions having significant legal effects. ‘Significant legal effects’ means decisions impacting:

  • Financial or lending services 
  • Extensions or offers of credit
  • Housing
  • Insurance
  • Education enrollment or opportunity
  • Criminal justice
  • Employment opportunities
  • Health-care services
  • Access to essential goods or services

You may opt out of the processing of personal information as described in the Your Colorado Rights and Choices section.

Your Colorado Rights and Choices

As a Colorado resident, you have specific rights regarding your personal information. This section describes those rights and explains how to exercise those rights.

  • Right of Access. You have the right to confirm whether we process your personal information and to access the personal information we have collected and maintain about you, including final profiling decisions (as applicable), inferences, derivative data, marketing profiles, and other personal information reasonably linked to you. 
  • Right to Portability. When exercising the above right to access personal information, you have the right to obtain data in a portable and readily usable format that allows you to transmit the data to another entity without hindrance. We may limit this response where not technically feasible and to protect trade secrets.
  • Right to Correct. You have the right to correct inaccuracies in your personal information, taking into account the nature of the personal information and the purposes of the processing of your personal information.
  • Right to Delete. You have the right to request that we delete your personal information concerning you.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Processing Personal Information for Targeted Advertising. You have the right to opt out of our processing of your personal information for the purpose of targeting advertisements to you based on personal information obtained or inferred over time from your activities across non-affiliated websites or online services. To exercise the right to opt out, you (or your authorized agent) may submit a request by opting out of certain third party cookies via our cookie manager at https://www.schoolstatus.com/cookie-policy.  
  • Right to Opt-out of Selling. As described above, we may process Personal Information for Targeted Advertising. Otherwise, we do not sell your personal information (and we do not sell personal information we have collected to third parties for use in targeted advertising).

Exercising Your Rights

With respect to the opt-out rights indicated above, your authorized agent may make a request on your behalf to exercise these rights. Your agent may act on your behalf through a technology, including a web link indicating a preference or browser setting, browser extension, or global device setting. As permitted by law, we may reasonably seek to verify your identity and to confirm your agent’s authorization. We may, as permitted by law, deny your request if we cannot, through reasonable effort, verify your identity and your agent’s authority. For example, we may ask you to provide name, contact information, employer, and/or a description of the products or services you use. We may limit our response to your or your agent’s requests as permitted by law.
