This leadership transition marks a new phase of growth for SchoolStatus as it continues its mission to transform how educators connect with families through innovative communications and attendance solutions that drive real impact for students.
Okun brings a wealth of experience in education technology and a passion for improving student outcomes that aligns perfectly with SchoolStatus’ mission. His background includes leadership roles as CEO of Penn Foster Group, President of McGraw-Hill Higher Education, CEO of Reonomy, and Executive Vice President of Capital IQ. He also serves as Executive Chairman of the Board for Top Hat. Throughout his career, Bill has specialized in expanding organizations at significant inflection points in their growth journey—exactly where SchoolStatus stands today.
Bill Okun succeeds Russ Davis, who founded SchoolStatus in 2012 and shaped it into a trusted partner for school districts nationwide. “Building SchoolStatus has been the journey of a lifetime,” said Davis. “From our earliest days creating data tools to help local educators, to now serving millions of students in all 50 states, our mission has remained constant: bringing schools and families together to help students achieve their potential.
