One of the first formal conversations between principals and teachers during the start of the year involves goal setting for the semester. This year, set goals directly on TeachBoost and those goals will be automatically tied to teacher observations. Additionally, teachers and school leaders can attach evidence in the form of narratives, media, or files to show progress for professional goals.
Follow the steps below to get started.
-
Make sure two settings are enabled—(a) Teachers can login to TeachBoost; and (b) Teachers can set goals on TeachBoost. To enable, click “Settings” on the left navigation bar and scroll to the bottom. Ensure both of these settings are turned “on.”
-
Invite your teachers to sign into TeachBoost. In the left navigation, click “Teachers”. Invite each of your teachers and an email will be sent to them with instructions to login for the first time.
-
Set predefined or custom goals. Navigate to the teacher’s profile, and click “New Goal”. A pop-up will allow you to search for pre-existing goals, browse your school’s goal bank for predefined goals, or add a personal goal (type your own). When you’ve selected a goal or provided your own, click “Add Standards.”
-
View evidence for the goal. If any observations have been completed that touched upon the goal, you’ll see the comments when you click on the gray goal box.
-
Bonus! Start a goal-based observation. When your teachers have goals set for themselves, you can create a dynamic observation template based solely on the teacher’s goals. Click “New Observation” from a teacher’s profile and the last option will be “Goal Based Observation”. Use this template for quick snapshots to provide frequent feedback to teachers for observable goals.
Lastly, for every goal, a conversation lives on the bottom of the page between your school leadership team and the teacher. Use this conversation for posting embeddable resources (videos, links), action plans, words of encouragement, or constructive feedback.
